The flight into the Himalayas reveals scenic and breathtaking views of Himalayan Mountains. Landing in the Paro Valley, surrounded by 4000 meter high mountains stretching across the west of Bhutan, enables you to have a visible landing which is indispensable and makes your day an unforgettable one. Our Bhutanese representative will welcome you on arrival and drive to Thimphu (2350m) it takes 1.5hours through Paachuriver and Wangchu is arid and has mainly scrub as vegetation. The countryside from Chuzom to Thimphu is less forested than what you have been seeing so far and the valley are narrow except for two sections where it widens into gentle slopes, terraced rice field and lovely strand of conifer trees. Evening TashichhoDzong– Means Fortress of Glorious Religion. ZhabdrungNgawangNamgyel built it in 1641. It houses the secretariat building, the throne room and the office of the king, and the central monk body. Overnight at Thimphu.

After an early breakfast, drive Dochula. The route takes you pass SimtokhaDzong but you turn left at the crossroads and as you ascend there is a good overview of the Dzong. Halt at Dochula Pass (3080) for a hot cup of tea coffee and on a clear day, the most spectacular view of the Eastern Himalayas can be viewed. Later drive back to Thimphu, stroll around Thimphu city. Overnight at Thimphu.

After an early breakfast, drive towards Punakha and Wangdi. Visit the PunakhaDzong, the former winter capital and present administrative scat of the district. It is also the winter residence of the central monastic body. The Dzong (fortress) lies between two rivers, the Pochu and Mochu, uncaring male and female rivers. It was built in 1637 AD. Visit WangdiphodrangDzong, perched on a promontory 13 km away from Punakha. The Dzong was built in 1638 A.D. Halt at Punakha or Wangdue.

After breakfast visit Punakha Dzong, the dzong straddle the confluence of two rivers and resembles a giant battleship. Its full name is “PunthangDechenphodrang” or Palace of Great happiness”. And short hike, ChimiLhakhang, it take around 20-30mins walks from the road head, through cultivated fields and up a gentle slope. This Temple was built by lam DrukpaKuenley (The Divine Madman) in 1499. Evening drive to Paro. Overnight at Paro.

After an early breakfast, Enjoy the drive and the scenic vistas from Chelela Pass, among the highest motor able roads in Bhutan. Chele la (pass), at an elevation 3,988 meters is considered to be one of the highest motor able passes in Bhutan. About an hour’s drive from Zhiwa Ling it passes through lush valleys, pine and rhododendron forest. The pass provides stunning views of the sacred mountain Jomolhari and Jichu Drake. Chele la is marked by hundreds of prayer flags fluttering in the wind. While taking a walk above the pass and one might come across signs of ‘sky burials’. Come back to Paro Hotel.
