The Sultans spared no expense when constructing Topkapi Palace and it is a must see when visiting Istanbul. Proceed to the stately courtyard of Hagia Sophia, home to the Sultans’ mausoleums which have recently been restored to their former glory. The interiors of the tombs are adorned with some of the most beautiful ceramic panels of the 16th century with purple, red, green and blue flower motives. Prince’s robes and a small piece from the Kaaba covers are displayed on the sarcophaguses.
